3 Key Things to Pray for Your Anxious Girl
Eleven years is the median age of anxiety disorder onset, impacting nearly a third of adolescents ages 13 to 18.¹ Plus studies show that girls are significantly and consistently more anxious than boys.
The hardest part of anxiety for moms is when the stats hit home. Anxiety isn’t just impacting those girls, but your girl. If that’s your story, here are 3 specific requests you can pray for your anxious girl.
1. Pray for your girl to give every anxiety to God in prayer.
Generally, when trouble hits, boys act out and girls turn inward. Pray that your girl would turn upward instead of inward. Show her what it looks like to talk to God about her anxieties by praying with her.
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).
2. Pray for your girl to have strong, trustworthy relationships.
Having family and friends she can connect with and trust diminishes anxiety and gives her a safe place to share her worries and fears. Pray for and nurture these relationships!
A friend loves at all times (Proverbs 17:17).
3. Pray for your girl to be strong, secure, and confident in Christ.
If your girl’s sense of self is tied to grades, popularity, and other shifting superficials, she’ll be especially prone to anxiety. But when her identity is deeply rooted in Christ, she can stand firm and resilient.
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! (1 John 3:1).
Need more prayer ideas? Ask your girl! Praying with her and for her will remind her that she is not alone, valued, and so very LOVED.
