Homemade Bath Bombs

Baths aren’t just for little kids. They can be a great place to relax your muscles and think, or even read a book. These bath bombs will swirl your tub with color and will leave you feeling clean and fresh.

What You Need

  • 1 cup (240 mL) baking soda
  • 1/2 cup (120 mL) cream of tartar
  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) Epsom salt
  • 3 drops of food coloring
  • 4 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) olive oil
  • 1/8 cup (30 mL) water
  • 1 large bowl
  • Spray bottle filled with water

Directions

  1. Mix together all the dry ingredients in the large bowl.
  2. Add the essential oil and olive oil.
  3. Slowly add the water to the bowl. It will fizz a bit, but that’s okay.
  4. Put your hands in the bowl and mash everything together. If it’s too wet, add a little baking soda. If it’s too dry, add some more water.
  5. Mold the mixture into little balls with your hands. If it isn’t sticking together, use the spray bottle to lightly dampen the ball.
  6. Set the bath bombs aside to dry overnight.
  7. Take a video of your bath bomb exploding in the tub and send it to us at shinebrightly@gemsgc.org.
